Polar Projects!

Room 15 have been very interested in learning about the Polar regions lately. In fact, such was the thirst for knowledge about the ice caps and what could survive there, it prompted us to engage in some research on the school ipads and produce some wonderful mini Polar projects for display in our classroom. Here is a selection of what we did:  


Let’s Get Active!

We are working hard to introduce more activity into our day!  “Walk while you Talk” at break times. Children are being encouraged to move around the yard as they are chatting at break times. Ionad Spraoi le Chéile: Each class gets an allocated time to use our ionad spraoi (playground). Senior classes are allocated a time during break times to add diversity into their activity

RSA Talk: Room 15

The RSA came to teach the children about road safety and the safe cross code. The children got to practice their road safety knowledge on the “village” that the coordinators had brought along for the day.  We all had great fun and came away with our road safety license. Well done to Room 15!  


Rapunzel Cover Art Competition

St. Conleth’s Pantomime Troupe run a programme cover art competition each year in various schools around the Parish. Children in 5th & 6th classes get the chance to create a piece of artwork representing the show. A winner is chosen from each school and then from among those winners one piece becomes the cover of the pantomime programme. This year’s show Rapunzel generated lots

Room 15: Cracking Crackers!

Room 15 paired up with Room 4 for this years Christmas Concert. We were scene 1: Christmas Crackers. We really enjoyed getting ready for the show and LOVED our costumes!


Athletics Day:5th & 6th class

Mark from K-Leisure returned to us again before the Christmas holidays and took charge of our senior classes for an athletics action day. Everyone had great fun and Mark kept all of the children moving, hopping, dodging, jumping and laughing. Well done to all of the classes for their enthusiasm and participation!   “Don’t just sit, go get fit”      


6th Class Cool Dudes Food Programme

St. Conleth & Mary’s are very lucky to working with the HSE on the Cool Dudes food preparation and practical nutrition programme again this year. So far Mr. O’Sullivan and Ms. Nugent’s classes have taken part and Ms. Gill’s class will complete their sessions in the coming weeks. Cool Dudes is designed to teach children about how to keep their bodies healthy through their diet.
