A fantastic year of Gaelic Football

2018/2019 has been a fantastic year for Gaelic Football in St. Conleth & Mary’s. Both boys and girls teams showed a great level of participation throughout the year and a lot of commitment to training and improving their skills.

Mr. O’Brien ran the U10 boys team, Mr. Dooley, Mr. Merrins & Mr. O’Sullivan worked with our U11 and senior boys and Ms. Byrne and Ms. Bryan ran the girls football team.

Our Girls took part in the Cumann na mBunscol league and blitz and played a number of competitive games this spring and summer. The girls showed a lot of determination and the teachers are looking forward to building on the great progress that was made this year.

Our Under 10s also took part in the Cumann na mBunscol and blitz and showed a lot of promise. We’re hoping for great things in the future.

Our older boys experienced great success this year after several close disappointments in recent years. In the Autumn the boys took part in the Under 11 league and emerged undefeated beating Scoil Ui Riada, Kilcock in the final. They then went on to win the Mini 7s Blitz in Scoil Mhuire.

In recent weeks the Senior panel fought hard through a tough group to eventually beat Kilcullen in a tense final in Moorefield, adding to the year’s trophies.

St. Conleth & Mary’s are very proud of all our footballers this year and especially our 6th class pupils who showed great leadership throughout the year and leave behind a legacy that will be hard to replicate.
