The children in our school have been very busy this month, creating beautiful Christmas artwork, taking part in Gaelic football and basketball leagues, preparing for our annual carol service, running cake sales, singing in the Whitewater Shopping Centre and completing those all important Christmas tests.
Mrs. Nugent and Mrs. Dooley’s 5th classes held a cake sale for the school on Friday 11th of December. The children brought in some wonderful goodies and money was raised for our school and St. Vincent de Paul.
Mr. O’Brien, Mr. Dooley, Mr. Murphy and Mr. O’Sullivan have been running an in-school Gaelic Football league for the 2nd class boys this term. All the boys worked really hard and the teachers were delighted with their dedication and teamwork. A big thank you to the 6th class boys who acted as managers for the 2nd class teams. Special congratulations to Fionn Brennan from room 15 who was named ‘Most Improved Player’.
The school choir went carol singing in the Whitewater Shopping Centre on Friday 11th and Tuesday 15th of December to raise money for our school and for St. Vincent de Paul. The children put on a great show and were a credit to the school.
Ms. Bolton’s 2nd class were baking on Thursday 17th December under the expert guidance of Ciara Flanagan. The children made all kinds of wonderful treats and really enjoyed the activity.
The school carol service took place on Thursday 17th December in the Parish Church. The children sang a selection of well known carols led by the school choir. Ms. Glendon and Mrs. Honan’s 4th class played a medley of Christmas carols on the recorder. The children sang really well and they all enjoyed the service.
Ms. Walsh and Ms. Nugent have been running an in-school basketball league on Wednesday afternoons. The semi finals and final of the league were played on Monday 21st December with team G the overall winners. The team was made up of Robbie, Diarmuid, Gavin, Krystian, Alex and Murray. Ms. Walsh and Ms. Nugent would like to say a big thank you to all the boys who took part in the league over the last couple of weeks and a special thank you to the group who took part in the Kildare league earlier this term.

School closes for the Christmas holidays on Tuesday 22nd Dec at 12 mid-day and re-opens on Jan 6th 2016.
