Making Jam

Gooseberry Jam

On the 19th of June our class, Room 6, decided to make some gooseberry jam. We started by picking some gooseberries from our school garden, washing and topping and tailing them. Next, we measured out our other two ingredients, which were ½ a pint of water and 2 lbs and 10 ozs. of sugar. We then put the gooseberries and water into a large saucepan, over a hot stove, and stirred it until it came to the boil. Our next step was to add the sugar and let it boil hard until it reached setting point, stirring continuously. When it was ready, we put it in jars and bowls. Later on, when it had cooled, we tasted it on some bread roll with butter. Everybody had different opinions about it, but in my opinion it was delicious and some people even went for more! I recommend doing this as it was really fun making it and the outcome was splendid.
